Hi again, as you will already know my name is jack and when we did our music performance unit I played the solo jolly old saint nic on the Trombone. Before this year I had already played the trombone for a year and took lessons every monday after school at 3:15.
During this unit I revised my music skills while the people new to their instruments learned new skills, for some of the people new to their instruments it was sometimes hard and sometimes difficult. With me I was revising the skills of reading notes, getting the right tunes and slide positioning. Reading the notes was rather easy because I had been write songs through-out the summer, getting the right tune was also rather easy because I listened to the songs that we would be playing a lot, the slide slide positioning was reasonably easy because of the lessons and once its in your head and you did it every day for a year it gets stuck in your head.
When I was working in a group we had a few problems but the music skills that I used were counting out the breaks, slide positioning,tuning. These were all important because without them it would sound like a shambles! There were also social skills that were used and they all related to the learner profile. We were communicators, risk-takers, thinkers and principled children.
To prepare myself for the solo performance I was listening to professionals play the song and me play the song. I did this for an hour and then cleaned my instrument ready to play and perform.
During this unit the main challenge that I had to overcome was my trombone because after a few weeks it started to break down. There was really only two choices and they were clean everyday and see if it works or if that doesn’t work tell my teacher and hand it back and trade it for a newer one. For me I didn’t really improve but I practised the skills that I had already learned and for that was great. The thing that I liked the most about this unit was getting to work with my friends and with people that I don’t hangout with a lot. My future goals in music are to be a music writer for the new michel jackson, lmfao, Eminem or someone like that with that caliber of popularity.
